Was it just a slow year, or is running in Staten Island losing its compeitiveness? This is no discredit to the Gangemi kid who won, he is a fine young runner, however, I would have expected a winning time somewhere in the 4:20's. And at least 30 or 40 guys sub-5. What's happening to the NYC running community? I was looking at results from the 80's and early nineties, the races were much deeper. According to a relaible source, even local 5k's were alot faster and more people came out to run. Apparently, if you weren't running in the 15's and 16's, you were out of contention. Anyone care to comment?
