Fred,

When chip time is available, I judge my
race on that figure and not on "official time".
Chip time, in my mind, measures your actual
PERFORMANCE in a race. It's how long it took
you to get from Start to Finish. Official time
(esp. for those of us, like myself who are
not fast enough to line up in front), is somewhat
arbitrary. Depending on where you line up,
or how crowded the race is, you could actually
set a Chip Time PR, yet not set a clock time
PR. Not to mention those who line up too
close to the start when they should be further
back throwing off how long it takes you to
get to the start.

I realize that logistically, it's more
practical to give awards based on clock time;
however, do you think that there is any
chance that U.S.A.T.F would eventually change
their rules to allow chip time to be considered?
