Michael Cassidy and Gail Marino recorded easy victories at the annual SIAC New Year's Day Sober Up Run at chilly but sunny Clove Lakes Park. The winners will receive bottles of champagne for their efforts. Cassidy covered the three-mile course in a quick 15:43, with Dean Grusky a distant second in 17:25. Luis Oyola (17:57), Frank Connelly (19:05) and A-Born Etchison (19:21) rounded out the top five overall finishers.

Marino won the women's race in 19:52, while Barbara Byrne finished second in 20:50. Alma Ramos (22:20), Karen McNamara (23:32) and Lisa Rigolini (24:47) were third through fifth for the women.
