SIAC
3 Mile Fun Run

September 21, 2002
by Dave Panza

Tim Mahoney and Winnie Ng coasted to victory at the weekly SIAC Run for Fun at Clove Lakes Park. Mahoney covered the three-mile course in 17:35, while Ng was first for the women in 19:30.

Scott Catone (18:01), Stephen Hook (18:41), Scott LaMorte (19:16) and Keith Gill (20:20) rounded out the top five men. Danielle LaMagra (20:22), Mary Molski (23:55), Barbara Reno (24:48) and Lisa Rigolini (27:15) were second through fifth respectively for the women.

The Six-Hour Race was held at Clove Lakes Park simultaneously to the Fun Run, and the runners dealt with unfortunate mid-80 degree temperatures and high humidity. As of this writing, the winner was undetermined, but many smiling and enthusiastic participants competed, including 80-something Ted Corbett, a world famous ultramarathoner who spoke at the SIAC dinner a few years back. Race favorites included Rich Orazem, Gail Marino, Spencer Ellis and Tim McCauley.
