3 Mile Fun Run

A turnout of over 70 runners came out on a gray rain threatening day to pay tribute to the memory of Steve Lauria in the final race of the summer series held in his honor. SIAC, Rockets, Gateway, There-to-care, MIllrose,Warren Street as well as runners from Curtis, MSIT, Port Richmond, St. Joseph's and St. Peters High schools were all represented.

On the womens side 50 years young Olympiam , Winnie Ng (winner of the overall series) held off a strong charge at the 2 mile mark by 14 year old Kristin Farley to win in a time of 18:14. Farley held on for second, Jasmine Barretto, ALma Ramos and Danielle LaMagra rounded out the top 5 women.

On the mens side of the scoreboard, 16 year old MSIT student Chris Green easily outdistanced Luis Oyola in a time of 17:40 to take top honors. Oyola, Tim McCauley, Frank Connelly and Steve Woitkowski rounded out the top 5 men.

Many thanks to Rich Re and Dorothy Vogt for expediting the scoring of the race series, Liam Vogt and Lisa Rigolini for the awards presentation ceremony, Rich Orazem for coming up with the tent and Fred Rigolini as official starter and for eating his fair share of the food at the awards breakfast. A special thanks to all runners who participated in the race series.
