Scott LaMorte and Alma Ramos were the winners of the weekly SIAC Run for Fun at Clove Lakes Park. This race served as the second in a series of four races honoring the life of former Fun Run director and WTC victim Steve Lauria.

LaMorte broke open a close race at the halfway point to win handily in 17:12. Steve Pochalski (17:51) nosed out Luis Oyola (17:52) for second place, while Chris Greene (17:56) and A-Born Etchison (18:21) rounded out the top five.

Alma Ramos won the women's division in 20:39, easily outdistancing second place Barbara North (21:22). Annmarie Ruta (22:14), Mary Motski (24:34) and Gabriella Annetta (25:52) rounded out the top five women.

It was a beautiful day for a run, and 68 humans and 1 canine ran in honor of our fallen friend Steve Lauria. He would have been ecstatic to see such a turnout for his beloved Fun Run race, so take a bow, everyone. Thanks to all of you for coming, and special thanks to Fred Rigolini for all the post-race refreshments.

Scott LaMorte pulled away from a game Chris Greene after the first turn to post a strong win. Steve Pochalski nipped Luis Oyola in a stirring sprint for second place. Alma Ramos also posted a strong win, as she begins to pile up the mileage in preparation for the Richmond Marathon. Yes, I included Fido among the finishers, since Ruth Fairbrother released the fit, furry creature for the final few yards and he sprinted ahead of his proud master to the finish.

No Fun Run next week, as the Trail Run at Wolfes Pond Park is happening Next Steve Lauria race is the following Saturday, July 27th, at 9AM. Please try to make this one.
