SIAC
3 Mile Fun Run
June 15, 2002
by Dave Panza
Bill Allert and Alma Ramos won their respective divisions at the weekly SIAC Run for Fun at Clove Lakes Park. Allert won the race in a time of 20:12, with Scott LaMorte second in 20:25 and Sean Dixon third in 21:08.
Ramos won the women's division in 21:14, with Barbara Byrne (21:53) and Ruth Fairbrother (28:34) second and third, respectively.
The race served as a final tune-up for the Father's Day Al Ronaldson Race, and Alma Ramos made a bid to win the race outright, leading at the halfway point and exciting her legions of fans. Although it wasn't meant to be, with Bill Allert taking command of the race, Alma still finished fourth overall.
No Fun Run next week because of inaugural Luke Parlatore Race.
