Perhaps I should repeat what you said to me, Ernie--get a life.
You really seem far more interested in bashing me than dealing with issues. Granted, this issue is not quite directly in the realm of "running", but it is an important one that could impact the forum.
Again, I reiterate, Forum does not necesarily mean "cheerleading squad". Negative things, controversial things, come up in fourms, of all kinds, all the time. I didn't see anything in the Terms of Service that said we could only discuss nice, sunny running accomplishment stories. That's what the Advance does, and there are plenty of those in other places, too. One would hope that this place could at least provide an alternative from time to time. Those who would demand we only write about certain things are effectively trying to censor the place, and we should all be wary of that.
The most interesting thing about the most recent exchanges is I keep mentioning them out to some people we've met in running here, and their reactions range from amused to disgusted, but most fall into the don't care category. I'd like to get any of them to post. One quite rightly pointed out, though, that I would just be accused of writing it anyway, unless it completely disagreed with me. I realized he was right, and that's what the reactions here have become. (But I'll keep trying. I'd also like to get some of the people in SI who I know read this forum--they've told me they do in private e-mails--but don't post much, or at all, as they don't feel it's worth their time, and who might take a different tack in their comments.)
(Surprised you didn't accuse me of writing Gail's post.)
