Is it appropriate to use someone else's number. Probably not. Is it done? Absolutely. New York is hard enough to get into without someone's help. To give up your number - looking for nothing in return -
not looking to qualify for Boston - let's call it what it is. A nice gesture. It in no way diminishes from anyone else's performance.
