Louis Rodriguez is participating in the Run Across America, which began on Saturday, June 12th in California and ends on August 21st in NYC's Central Park - this Saturday. We just found out the finish line is near Columbus Circle, so if anyone is in the area, they should be coming in by 2:00 p.m.....
RACE DAY #67: Tuesday, August 17
We start out today in New Oxford to finish up in Lancaster, Pennsylvanis for 38 miles with a cutoff of 10hrs 51min. It is a slightly cool, humid morning, about 63 degrees. The weather report is threatening a forecast of 82 degrees. Its not so dark this morning but we are welcomed to a beautiful sunrise, a big round red ball, which reminded me almost of the Japanese Flag.
Lou & Kaz are running together a few feet in front of Taka as I drive up. I notice Lou right away from far back because of the reflectors off his vest. Oliviers running well today. We run through the Bourough of New York & over the Susquehanna Bridge. The traffic is extremely heavy, making it dangerous for the runners.
Kaz says in Japan, all ultra runners are journey runners, because they like to see & take in all the sites.
Will Campbell, an entrant in this run who dropped out early in the run invited everyone to his home tonght for dinner. He lives in Lancaster. So when everyone finshed all within cutoff, we graciously accepted his invitation. There was cake to celebrate Darios & Ryota's birthday. Will is the man, as he so graciously yelled out the window of his car to Lou, 'You're the man" as Lou was running. Thanks Will.
