Labor Day was labor day for us. We started the morning out early to do laundry.
Last evening we met Tracey, whose father suffers from cancer of the lymphatic
system. How sad to share such a horrific bond (cancer) with so many people.

We were greeted by a hazy sunshine to start off with, and had Route 1 all to
ourselves. After 6 miles out, Lou changed his shirt to a singlet. Although the sun
was hot, there was a breeze coming from the coast and occasionally Lou was shaded
by the trees, but the anemic atmosphere persisted.

A new ground surface for Lou to get used to -- concrete. So far these past 2 days
he has been running all day on concrete. Besides, the grass is home to so many
creatures here (snakes, lizards, gophers, possums, etc....). Hmmmm, Dr. Sherman
did tell Lou, "I'll see you when you get back."

We met a man and his son today. He came over to the truck to tell us that he
has cancer too. When he realized that the journey originated in New York, he
wished us luck and expressed his gratitude and amazement at the feat. He didn't
say what type of cancer he had, but the opening from his tracheostomy had not
completely healed yet. I will guess that he was my age.

By the early afternoon, Lou changed back into a tee shirt again because the
sun became increasingly strong. The sun was so strong that the marks of his
singlet were still on him after he removed it.

The mileage for today was 44. We are just outside of Daytona Beach.

'Til tomorrow, thanks.

Love, Lou & Agnes
