Today I witnessed a classic battle between Lou and Mother Nature.
She seemed to have taken off her gloves today. Every time Lou came out
in the ring, she attacked with a barrage of hot rays coming from all angles.
This battle went on and on for the duration of the day. I broke out in a sweat
watching from the corner. This bout was better than watching Oscar De La Hoya fight.

We passed through these small towns but there weren't many people out there
today, unless they were out working the fields. Lou was stopped in the small town
of Sadinia by two women driving a small pickup. They offered a donation and said that
they just wanted to help beat cancer. Here was a woman who could barely afford to keep
the car going and she was willing to give her last $5 up. Lou told her that a donation was
not necessary, but "please just take care of yourselves and make sure that you get yourselves routinely checked for breast cancer". Since Lou wouldn't accept the money,
she said that she would say a good prayer for him.

In the next town, two field hands saw Lou running and asked him, "How far you
going?" Lou said, "To Miami, I have over 650 miles in so far." When they asked why,
Lou told them that he's delivering a message, that more must be done to fight cancer,
to which they replied, "Amen, brother".

We stopped after 34 well-deserved sun-battered miles. To be continued.

Love, Lou and Agnes
