Who set off the fireworks this morning? All I can remember is Derek Alvez's story,
"Chasing an Enemy Down the East Coast" (in the S.I. Advance). As we prepared to
leave, the lightning and thundering subsided and we were on our way. The temp
rose into the 90's, with humidity at 96%. I don't know why Lou likes this heat, but he
looked better than he has in the last few days. It must have been the "I-HOP",
or the dog chasing him today. I have adjusted my driving so that I cross over
to the other side and meet him; it saves us time. We have fallen into the routine,
that is beginning to work well for us.

Lou had one of his fastest miles at the 23rd mile; he noticed the cars were
driving erratically (he was running against the traffic) and when he turned
around, he saw a dog chasing behind him. He stopped and yelled, "go home", but
the dog paid him no mind and kept coming. When I saw Lou approaching, he said,
"I just outran a dog, give me the dog spray in case there's another one, I can't outrun
another dog now". And when I looked, out pops a dog with his tongue hanging out,
slowly walking towards the truck. We didn't know if he was amazed or just tired from
running. I think he gave up on Lou--we didn't see him anymore. We hope he's okay,
because the traffic was heavy and it was raining. Lou wanted to go back and feed him
but I wouldn't let him.

Guess what, I get an opportunity to laugh at Lou. He gets proofed at the hotels, because
they give AARP discounts--they don't believe he's over 50. Total miles today: 33.
We are somewhere in the beginning of Wilson, North Carolina. (He's 55, hee hee hee.)

Now it's off to Aunt Sarah's Pancake House to fuel up. Miss all you guys--keep those
thoughts and prayers coming our way; we believe that's the fuel that keeps us going.
That, plus Powerade.

'Til tomorrow, see ya.

Lou and Agnes
