Well, we made it through a week. It was another extremely hot day. When Lou
started out at 8:30 a.m. it was already 90 degrees. Lou says that he must be getting
used to it because it felt cooler.

Yesterday and today, we did pass through some less fortunate neighborhoods
with the distinct sounds of Marvin Gaye in the air. We made it to the White House
and the Capitol today and delivered the proclamations as we said we would; unfortunately, since we showed up unexpectantly, we had to drop them off in the
mailroom. However, the Secret Service agents tagged them for the President and put
them through the metal detectors, so now round one is in the books-- we made our
delivery to the White House.

The total miles for today are 29.2. Tomorrow we plan to start increasing pace or
distance, whichever comes first....

'til then thanks, lots of love, --Lou and Agnes
