Another scorcher for today; it hit 100 degrees with the heat index of
115. Lou started out at 8:50 this am. He didn't really feel the heat until he
hit the Baltimore sidewalks. Lou wants to know if anyone has ever tried
selling shade trees out here -- there was not one to be found. Sometimes
staying behind the white line (on the highway) is not safe; he had to jump up
on a fence to be safe when the distance behind the white was getting
thinner (as indicated by white spots).

He found two gold coins, of no monetary value. Businesses are made
in heat waves like this; we saw people on the street selling water, in traffic.
I met a woman from Virginia who is a 3 time breast cancer survivor -- 3 lumpectomies.
We are a tad past Baltimore, in Jessup, Maryland. Lou did 30.1 miles today in this heat
with a cold soaked washcloth under his hat in a little more than 6 hours. I hope tomorrow
cools down a bit.

By the way, "Raceready" shorts (the ones with the pockets built in),
are excellent for carrying ice cubes for the heat -- the meltdown is awesome
on body parts, need I say more......We're learning as we go along.
