Luis
Ramirez and Maggie
McCauley were the winners
of the weekly SIAC Run for
Fun at Clove Lakes Park.
Ramirez covered the three
mile course in 18:24,
narrowly defeating Mario
Ricca, Jr. (18:34) and
Mark Vogt (18:47).
McCauley
won the women's race in
24:04, with Lisa Rigolini
finishing second in 28:48.
We
heard screaming from the
walkers club of Marie
Garone, Kathy Mezzano and
Jeannie Rowan after the
race and assumed they had
spotted an exotic animal
scurrying in their path.
It turns out a squirrel
leaped from a tree onto
Fred Rigolini's head and
shoulder, clearly looking
for the nearest landing
post rather than a direct
launch to the ground.
Although Fred was
uninjured, we are
researching whether this
means seven years of good
fortune for him or a
curse upon him. We
will let you know.
