The Cargo Cafe Millennium Fun Run Challenge is winding down after the 46th. race on December 11th. Kari Proffitt, using all the strategy the veteran can muster leads Mary Curran by a scant 1 point. The series concludes after this Saturday's event, Christmas day and the Jan. 1st. Millennium Run. Proffitt must run all three because a surprise visit by a Jeanine Radice type could put a wrench in her well laid plans. Of course Curran must show and finish second and hope Proffitt misses one more race.Stay tuned!
Scott LaMorte leads by 345,987 points and seems like a sure winner in a non-race men's division. The only question among men is who will secure the last of the 20-25th. place prizes. Currently 36 points seperate the 25-30 spots. The next Millennium Challenge will start in 99 years.
The Jan. 1st. event is shaping up as a truly unique event. Staten Island controversial artist Scott LoBaido has designed a very unusual t-shirt that will be very different and has a Y2K theme. Only 150 shirts will be available so enter early. LoBaido was recently arrested for throwing elephant shit at a famous Brooklyn museum. Charges have since been dropped. The race winners will receive a beautiful silver plated Millennium champagne cooler which is a great prize. The race registration and post race party will be held at the Knights of Columbus on Manor Road/Martlings Ave. If anyone would like to enter race week you can put application/$$ in my mailbox at 58 Silver Lake Road. Hope to see you there!
Happy Holidays!!!!
