SIAC CARGO MILLENNIUM CHALLENGE TO RESUME

The SIAC Cargo Cafe MIllennium Challenge Series resumes with race #42 on Saturday November 13th in Clove Lake Park at 9A.M.
The series was off for two weeks due to the 10th Annual Gunn Run and the Staten Island Academy 5Km Run. The series will continue thru the MILLENNIUM RACE on Sat. January 1st 2000. The series WILL be held on Christmas day at the usual time.
Applications are now available for the MILLENNIUM 3 MILE RACE. The race will be held on the Martlings Ave. side of Clove Lake Park with registeration and post race party to be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall 1/4 mile from the park on Martlings/Manor Road. Baby sitting service will be available during the race in case of very cold weather. For more information contact race director: Bob Orazem at #442-2057.

Kari Proffitt holds a scant 18 point lead over Mary Curran in the series with 8 races remaining. Proffitt, coming of a sub par NYC Marathon was benefited by the last 2 weeks cancellations as she prepared for the marathon...Scott LaMorte now holds a 307.5 point lead and appears to be coasting for the trip to Beantown for a spring 2000 road race. The actual race will be determined soon as I have more time with the dinner over...Speaking of the dinner: 230 people attended and honored the 1999 Lou Marli Service Winner Tommy Hart and listened to guest speaker Ted Corbitt...I have been told personally by T.V. announcer Larry Rawson and USA Track & Field executive Director Craig Masback that this is a one of a kind dinner in this country where members of the running community (Not just one team or organization) get together. If you came, Thank You. If you didn't, try to come next year; you will enjoy it.
